Hyderabad's Heritage Monuments

THIS CONTENT IS HIGHLY COPYRIGHTED. PLEASE READ THE TERMS OF USAGE.

Hyderabad is soaked in rich history and its architecture spells magic. Architecture of times, when it was not just about brick and mortar, but when the culture influenced the architecture resulting in breath-taking magnificent creations. Creations, some of which are centuries old and embody unparalleled grace and elegance. Spectators to the passage of time and mute witnesses of the city’s tribulations and ecstasies, they are a testimony to the skills of the craftsmen of erstwhile Hyderabad. Truly, one of their kind in the world due to their unique features and historic significance.

Tracing their way from the Qutub Shahi period to the Osmanian period, this article presents a few select monuments, structures and water bodies, which have been conferred with the INTACH Heritage Awards (The Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage).

This article would not have been possible without the valuable support and guidance of P. Anuradha Reddy & Sajjad Shahid. We thank them for their valuable inputs and help with the historic information.
Here’s a journey into Hyderabad’s architectural grandeur of the yore.
